The Autumn Visit: A Story About Learning From Others

The Autumn Visit: A Story of Curiosity and Wisdom

A Curious Grasshopper

Lulu the grasshopper was playful but extremely curious. Whenever he saw something new, he would open his eyes wide and jump over eagerly to ask questions.

One autumn day, Lulu decided to visit other animals in the forest to see what they were doing.

The forest was lively. Every animal seemed busy with its own work.

The first animal Lulu greeted was a squirrel.

“Little squirrel, why are you carrying so many nuts?” Lulu asked.

The squirrel was breathing heavily from the hard work. Its fluffy tail hung over the branch like a large fan.

Looking around, the squirrel finally noticed Lulu tilting his head while speaking.

“We are storing food for the winter!” the squirrel replied with a smile.

The squirrel found Lulu quite funny because such basic knowledge seemed obvious.

Preparing for Winter

When Lulu thought about winter, he shivered.

Winter was cold and harsh. The wind blew fiercely like sharp knives. During that time, animals stayed inside their warm homes. No one wanted to go out searching for food.

After saying goodbye to the squirrel, Lulu hopped across a small stream and passed a flower garden before resting under a large tree.

Soon he was awakened by a loud knocking sound.

It was a magpie hammering nails while building its nest.

This time Lulu spoke more carefully.

“Magpie, are you building your house for the winter?” he asked softly.

The magpie was very busy. While asking Lulu to pass him a nail, he said,

“Of course! I don’t want to be like the lazy bird that only sings and complains when winter arrives.”

The Journey Continues

Lulu continued his journey.

Soon he encountered a flock of wild geese flying quickly in a V formation.

Curious as always, Lulu jumped up and grabbed the wing of the last goose.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“We are flying south to spend the winter,” the goose replied.
“Let me go quickly, or I will fall behind the flock!”

At that moment Lulu finally understood.

Every animal was making preparations for winter.

A Surprising Discovery

Suddenly Lulu saw a young bear drinking honey from a bucket.

The bear seemed completely unconcerned about winter.

Lulu became worried.

“If the bear doesn’t prepare anything, won’t he suffer like the lazy bird?” Lulu thought.

Being kindhearted, Lulu jumped over and tapped the bear’s back.

“You should store food and build a shelter for winter!” Lulu advised.

But the bear burst into laughter.

“No need!” the bear said while waving his chubby paws.

“When winter comes, I simply sleep inside a tree hollow for the whole season. We call it hibernation.”

Hibernation?

What a strange way to spend the winter!

Lulu felt that his autumn visit had truly opened his eyes.

Moral of the Story

Curiosity helps us learn about the world, but wisdom comes from understanding that different people and situations require different solutions.

By observing others, asking questions, and keeping an open mind, we can discover new perspectives and gain valuable knowledge about life.

Why This Story Still Matters Today

In modern society, people often become disconnected from nature and the simple wisdom found in everyday life.

This story reminds us that curiosity and observation are powerful ways to learn about the world.

Different individuals and situations require different solutions, just like the animals preparing for winter in their own ways.

The lesson encourages open mindedness, learning from others, and understanding that there are many paths to success.
