Life Begins When You Set a Direction
Bisel was once known as a shining pearl in the Sahara Desert. Today, thousands of tourists visit this place every year. However, before it was discovered by Ken Levin, it was nothing more than a closed and underdeveloped village hidden deep within the vast desert.
The most surprising thing was this: no one from Bisel had ever successfully walked out of the desert.
It was not because they were unwilling to leave. Many had tried. But every attempt ended the same way. No matter which direction they chose, they would eventually return to where they started.
A Doubt That Led to Discovery
Ken Levin did not believe this strange claim.
Through gestures and communication, he asked the villagers about it. Everyone gave the same answer: “No matter where we go, we always come back.”
To prove whether this was true, Ken decided to test it himself. Starting from Bisel, he walked north.
After just three and a half days, he successfully walked out of the desert.
This result shocked him.
If he could do it, why couldn’t the villagers?
The Real Reason
Determined to understand the truth, Ken hired a local villager named Agutal to guide him. They prepared enough water for fifteen days and brought two camels. Ken deliberately left behind all modern tools such as a compass, choosing to rely only on observation.
He followed behind Agutal, who led the way using his usual method.
After ten days, they had walked about 800 miles. On the morning of the eleventh day, something unbelievable happened.
They returned to Bisel.
Only then did Ken finally understand the real reason.
The villagers could not escape the desert because they did not know how to identify the North Star.
Walking in Circles
In the endless desert, without clear direction or reference points, a person relying only on instinct will unknowingly walk in circles.
Even if they believe they are moving forward, their path will curve slightly over time, forming loops again and again. Eventually, they return to the same place.
Bisel was located in the center of a vast desert, surrounded by thousands of kilometers of empty land with no landmarks. Without knowledge of the stars or a compass, escaping was almost impossible.
A New Beginning
Before leaving Bisel, Ken took Agutal with him, the same man who had guided him earlier.
He told him, “Rest during the day. At night, follow the brightest star in the north. Keep walking in that direction, and you will find your way out.”
Agutal followed these instructions carefully.
Three days later, he successfully reached the edge of the desert.
He became the first person from Bisel to escape and explore the outside world. Later, a statue was built in his honor at the center of the village.
On its base were engraved these words:
“A new life begins when you choose a direction.”
